The College of Business at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), together with the International Business Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Chung Yuan Chapter, hosted the “10th BGS Chung Yuan Chapter Distinguished Business Leader Lecture” on May 20, 2026, at the Jin-Rong Business Auditorium . The event featured distinguished CYCU alumnus, BGS honorary member, and Chairman of IQS Wood Sdn Bhd, Mr. Peng Choong Leng, as the keynote speaker. Centered on the theme “Excellence and Responsibility: From Campus to the Global Stage,” the lecture attracted more than 250 faculty members and students, filling the venue to near capacity.

Mr. Peng was recently honored by the BGS Global Headquarters with both the Business Achievement Award and the Entrepreneurial Achievement Award, becoming the first and only recipient to receive both honors not only in Taiwan t but in the century-long history of Beta Gamma Sigma.

At the opening ceremony, Dean Min-Lei Chang of the College of Business presented the award plaques on behalf of the BGS Headquarters in the United States, allowing faculty and students to witness this important international recognition together. The event also highlighted the significance of BGS as the premier international business honor society under the AACSB accreditation framework, encouraging students to pursue excellence, broaden their global perspectives, and connect with outstanding business leaders worldwide.

In his keynote speech, Chairman Peng shared his journey from studying at CYCU and building his business overseas to promoting corporate sustainability (ESG) and giving back to society. He emphasized that CYCU’s long-standing philosophy of “Holistic Education” profoundly influenced both his personal values and leadership approach, shaping his commitment to character, responsibility, and social contribution alongside professional achievement.

Chairman Peng encouraged students to develop the core competencies required of future global talent by continuously strengthening both their professional capability and entrepreneurial mindset. He also invited students to reflect on three important questions:
“What kind of person do I want to become?”
“What capabilities am I building today?”
“What value can I create for others?”

Following the lecture, the BGS Chung Yuan Chapter organized an exclusive networking luncheon for BGS members, offering students a valuable opportunity to engage directly with Chairman Peng. During the luncheon, he provided career mentorship and practical insights on career planning, international development, and entrepreneurship preparation, creating meaningful interaction and discussion among participants.

The event not only demonstrated the College of Business’s achievements in connecting global business education through AACSB accreditation and the BGS international honor society, but also reflected CYCU’s commitment to holistic education through alumni mentorship, leadership development, and international engagement.

Chairman Peng concluded the event with an inspiring message to students:
“Start from campus and achieve yourself through excellence; step onto the global stage and give back to society with responsibility.”
