The College of Business at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) grandly held the “10th Induction Ceremony of the Beta Gamma Sigma (The International Business Honor Society, BGS) of Chung Yuan Chapter” on April 1, 2026. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Min-Lei Chang, Dean of the College of Business, who led the new inductees in reciting the BGS solemn oath and presented membership certificates, witnessing the honorable moment for 4 faculty members and 40 outstanding students.
An Exclusive Honor for Top Business Schools: The CYCU Chapter’s Outstanding Performance
Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) is a global academic honor society recognized by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). It aims to recognize and honor academic excellence among business students and distinguished professionals. Only institutions accredited by AACSB—representing the top 5% of business schools worldwide—are eligible to establish a BGS chapter.
Since 2016, the CYCU Chapter has inducted 518 members and earned the “Highest Honor ” status for seven consecutive years. A ceremony highlight was the presentation of the $1,000 USD BGS Scholarship to three exceptional students: IGNATIUS REYNER GIOVANNI (Ph.D. Program in Business), YU-CHI LIN (Master’s in Accounting), and SI LOK MARCO NG (Bachelor’s in Accounting). Selected for their top-tier academics, leadership, and international achievements, these recipients perfectly embody the BGS pillars of Honor, Earnestness, and Wisdom.
Rigorous Admission Standards: A Gathering of Business Elites
The criteria for BGS membership at CYCU are extremely stringent: sophomores (second semester), juniors, and seniors must rank in the top 10% of their class or department, and master’s students must rank in the top 20%. Doctoral candidates and full-time faculty members who earned their doctorates from AACSB-accredited institutions are also eligible. This invitation is not only a recognition of academic achievement but also a prestigious “passport” for students entering the international professional stage.
Unparalleled in Taiwan: Consecutive Silver Awards and Alumni Excellence
CYCU Chapter has distinguished itself among 641 chapters across 38 countries through its exceptional management. The chapter has won the BGS Outstanding Chapter “Silver Award” for two consecutive years (2024 and 2025)—a unique feat in Taiwan that underscores CYCU’s leadership in international business education.
Furthermore, Dr. Peng Choong Leng, a distinguished alumnus of the Ph.D. Program in Business and a BGS member, was honored with the 2026 BGS Business Achievement Award and the Entrepreneurial Achievement Award. This historic milestone—the first of its kind in Taiwan—fully demonstrates the powerful influence of CYCU’s College of Business in both global academia and industry.
