The 9th Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Chung Yuan Chapter Distinguished Business Leader Talk: Success Is No Longer Out of Reach

To help our BGS student members of Chung Yuan Chapter gain deeper insight into business operations and career development, the 9th Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Chung Yuan Chapter was honored to host a distinguished business leader, Mr. Tony Yu, for an engaging on-campus talk and discussion.

Mr. Yu currently serves as the Global Procurement, Director for Electronics Category at Molex, one of the largest privately held companies in the United States and the world’s second-largest manufacturer of electronic connectors. With over 23 years of experience in multinational corporations, Mr. Yu offered students a rare glimpse into the inner workings of global supply chain management, the realities of working in international companies, the essential competencies required, and strategic advice on how to successfully enter the foreign enterprise job market.

His career journey includes positions at Ford Motor Company (Taiwan branch), with an international assignment to Ford’s U.S. headquarters, Lite-On Technology in Guangzhou, China, and Applied Materials in both Tainan and the U.S. Through his talk, Mr. Yu candidly shared his career progression—from exploring career paths as a student, landing his first job after graduation, to navigating different stages of a global career. He encouraged students to embrace new mindsets, proactively plan, and equip themselves for the challenges of the modern workforce.

During the session, Mr. Yu quoted several inspiring lines to motivate students, including:

Success comes to those who take action; goals are reached by those who keep moving forward.

He also cited a well-known quote from American writer Henry David Thoreau in Walden, reminding students that everyone has their own unique rhythm and direction in life:

“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.”
“Some people walk to a different beat—because they hear a distant drum.”

Mr. Yu’s talk was more than just a reflection of his personal journey—it embodied the spirit of the belief that “success is for those who are prepared.”

As the organizer of this event, the BGS Chung Yuan Chapter extends our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Yu for taking time out of his busy schedule to join us and deliver such a powerful and inspiring session. His insights were invaluable and left a lasting impact on all who attended.
