The College of Business at Chung Yuan Christian University, in collaboration with the Center for Global Taiwanese Business Studies, has been actively fostering learning in smart technology and corporate sustainability. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Education’s Program for Innovation in the Humanities and Social Sciences and Industrial Practices, the college organized a visit to Delta Electronics, Inc., a benchmark company in ESG corporate sustainability and smart technology product development. Simon Chang, President of Delta Electronics and a distinguished alumnus of Chung Yuan’s Liberal Arts EMBA program, shared Delta’s vision of providing high-efficiency integrated solutions for global customers during the “Smart Technology Leads Corporate Sustainability Forum” held in April. At his invitation, faculty and EMBA students from the College of Business were given a special tour of Delta’s Chungli Plant 5.
On June 20, Dean Cheng-Wen Lee led a group of 8 faculty members from the College of Business and the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, along with 35 EMBA students, to visit Delta’s largest and most advanced facility in Taiwan, Chungli Plant 5. The visit was personally guided by Jimmy Yiin, Executive Vice President of Delta Electronics, who provided an in-depth introduction to the green building and flagship showroom. He began by recounting Delta’s 50-year journey since its founding in 1971, highlighting its evolution into a leading company in power management, thermal management, and industrial automation. In recent years, Delta has focused on smart manufacturing and smart cities, offering solutions in ICT and energy infrastructure, becoming a leader across various product categories. Of particular note is the company’s annual ten-year strategy planning, achieving over USD 12.89 billion in annual revenue. Delta’s “two-phase immersion liquid cooling” solution for data centers, developed under the AI trend, has already been adopted for customer testing, promising significant future growth.

Delta Electronics has long been committed to environmental issues, adhering to its mission of “Environment, Energy-Saving, and Earth-Friendly.” The company continues to innovate energy-saving products and solutions. Over the years, Delta has transitioned from being a key component manufacturer to a comprehensive provider of energy-saving solutions, focusing on three core areas: “Power and Components,” “Automation,” and “Infrastructure.” Moving forward, Delta will emphasize electric vehicles, data centers, and automation. Through diverse strategies, Delta adapts to a changing world while upholding its brand motto, “Smarter. Greener. Together.” This represents not only Delta’s commitment to itself but also to its stakeholders, customers, and employees.

The visit included a discussion of how Delta has addressed U.S.-China competition by establishing factories in Thailand and India years ago, ensuring resilient supply chains to compete in new markets. The group was then divided into two teams for site tours. The first stop was the rooftop solar energy system, demonstrating how green energy is converted for company use. They also explored energy-saving elevator systems, showcasing how the building meets green architecture standards.

The tour continued with an immersive experience created by over eight Digital Projection E-Vision 10000 series laser projectors, utilizing seamless stitching technology to form a 360-degree immersive projection room. Integrating 5G private networks and 8K high-definition projections, Delta’s system created a mixed-reality digital environment with 64K resolution walls and a 24K resolution floor. Videos of the sun, Taiwanese landscapes, Japanese festivals, Palauan scenery, and excerpts of Bai Xianyong’s Peking Opera were displayed, providing attendees with an extraordinary and immersive viewing experience.

The visit concluded with a discussion in the auditorium, where faculty and students posed questions about Delta’s ten-year strategy planning, its diversified product portfolio, the development of electric vehicle components, the promotion of charging stations, and talent cultivation. Jimmy Yiin answered comprehensively, leaving the attendees deeply inspired by Delta’s growth strategies, product development, operational philosophy, and long-term strategic planning aligned with ESG goals.
Looking ahead, the College of Business, the Center for Global Taiwanese Business Studies, the Center for Leadership Development, and the EMBA program will, under the Ministry of Education’s guidance, continue to organize industry visits. These efforts aim to empower faculty and students to realize the goal of “achieving corporate sustainability through smart technology.”
