College of Business Advances AI-Driven Cross-Disciplinary InnovationInformation Management Students Win Three First Prizes in the IT Service Innovation Competition, Achieving an Eight-Year Championship Streak

The 30th National College and University IT Service Innovation Competition, jointly organized by the Ministry of Digital Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and the Chinese Society for Information Management, was held on a grand scale this year. The event attracted 1,964 teams and over 9,000 participants from 151 universities and colleges across Taiwan, setting a new record in scale. Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) delivered an outstanding performance, winning three first prizes, one second prize, and several merit and special awards, achieving an impressive eight consecutive championships, and demonstrating exceptional strength in innovation and research.

In this year’s competition, students from the College of Business excelled with their solid AI application skills and cross-disciplinary integration capabilities. The project “Intelligent Periodontal Disease AI Assistance System”, developed by the Information Management student team under the cross-college guidance of Prof. Shih-Lun Chen from the Department of Electronic Engineering, won first place in the Industry-Academia Collaboration Category (Group 1), marking CYCU’s eighth consecutive championship. The system integrates AI image recognition with clinical data analysis to perform real-time X-ray lesion annotation and streamline diagnostic and treatment workflows, greatly enhancing clinical decision-making efficiency. The team also incorporated a large language model (LLM) to develop an intelligent consultation interface that improves doctor–patient communication, showcasing the human-centered value of AI in smart healthcare.

Information Management students Jin-Hao Liang, Kai-Hsun Yu, and Pin-Yu Lu shared that the development process involved not only AI algorithms and automation technologies but also data analysis and system design, fully embodying the College of Business’s philosophy of “driving management innovation through technology.” Through cross-college and industry collaboration, students successfully applied AI to real-world medical settings, demonstrating the creativity and practical capabilities of business students in the digital era.

In addition, under the guidance of Prof. Kuo-Cheng Lee from the Department of Information Management, a team developed “Flowin’—A Digital Flow Assistant”, which utilizes AI and wearable devices to analyze heart rate variability (HRV) and employs machine learning to provide personalized recommendations, helping users manage stress and maintain focus to enhance productivity and learning performance. Another project, “WeCare—Airport Medical Reporting System,” supervised by Prof. Hsiu-Li Liao, was developed using Flutter and SQLite to create a cross-platform application that supports offline use and bilingual (Chinese and English) interfaces, enhancing the automation and timeliness of medical reporting and improving emergency response efficiency. Both projects highlight the College’s commitment to leveraging AI to optimize processes and promote social innovation.

The College of Business has long been dedicated to advancing education in AI smart technologies and ESG sustainability, strengthening interdisciplinary teaching and industry collaboration. Students are encouraged to integrate business thinking with technological applications to develop dual expertise in management and technology. The achievements in this competition reflect the College’s commitment to “learning by doing” and “holistic education,” as students demonstrate not only strong academic capabilities but also the ability to drive social and industrial value through AI innovation.

Looking ahead, the College of Business will continue to deepen research and teaching in AI, sustainability, and industry practices, building an intelligent learning ecosystem that integrates innovation, application, and social responsibility. The College will remain committed to cultivating future business leaders with global perspectives, digital literacy, and a strong sense of sustainable development for the benefit of the nation and society.
